SHAKE IT OFF

Oh how we can learn so much from dogs! As I sat outside with my dog Copper , I watched him playfully roll around on the grass and then  as dogs usually do , he did the “ shake”. You know, the shake dogs do when they have gotten wet and try to shake the water off.  As I watched him , I had a prompting . The prompting reminded me how sometimes we can let the stresses of life, anxieties, worries, and even pressure and expectations from others weigh us down. It can get so heavy that we can focus more on these and forget to even look for joy, peace, happiness, and to especially have a little fun!

As I watched Copper do the “ shake” he quickly  jumped up into my jeep and looked at me as if to say “ Let’s go for a ride mom!!” , it reminded me to do the same thing when I feel heavily weighted down.  I hope to remember to have a little fun and just “ Shake if Off “ !!

  1. Oh, I love that!! A few days ago our dog Dakota wanted something, but nothing satisfied her. It took me a while to realize she just wanted a ride!! You are right. It was good for our dogs, but it is equally good for me! We got on our beautiful Indian River Drive, I opened all the windows and I drove the dogs around for close to an hour. They love putting their faces into the wind. I loved the deep sense of relaxation it gives me!!
